color correction

AMERICAN OZ

It is always a pleasure working on American Experience projects.  The latest one we did color correction on is American Oz.  A 2 hour doc on the author of the Wizard of Oz, L. Frank Baum..

For this documentary we worked with Randall MacLowry and the Film Posse.  It was a very smooth process going from Avid to Resolve Studio 17.  I really enjoyed using some of the new features.  The new color warper tool is an amazing addition to the toolset.

American Oz

Explore the life and times of author L. Frank Baum, the creator of one of the most beloved, enduring and classic American narratives.  By 1900, when The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was published, Baum was 44 years old and had spent much of his life in restless pursuit of success.

With mixed results, he dove into a string of jobs- chicken breeder, actor, marketer of petroleum products, shopkeeper, newspaperman and traveling salesman.  Baum continued to reinvent himself, reflecting a uniquely American brand of confidence, imagination and innovation.

Color correction for documentary film is always a challenge.  However the rewards can look really great.  All color correction done with DaVinci Resolve and the video archival remastering done here at Massive Clouds.
