Chad Smith of MASSIVE CLOUDS teamed up with director Robert Stone of Robert Stone Productions to color correct his latest documentary film project “Cold War Roadshow”. The color grade on American Experience Cold War Roadshow was done in DaVinci Resolve 10. Due to the nature of how the post production process was done on this project, the film was delivered for grading as one Quicktime file. Luckily DaVinci Resolve 10 has tools for keeping things moving efficiently. By employing the scene cut detection feature we were able to stay on schedule for a tight deliverable deadline.
With Resolve working in 32bit color space its a big plus when doing extreme corrections. Working with internal color correction tools of an NLE will not give comparable results. The deep color space of DaVinci Resolve is a compelling argument for a color grade session. Coupled with power windows and other purpose built grading tools makes Resolve a post production powerhouse.
